Music icon David Bowie has died at the age of 69 after battling with cancer for 18 months.
The musician famously known for his hits Let’s Dance and Life On Mars died surrounded by his family, according to an official statement on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
‘‘David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief,’‘ the statement read.

Last week, Bowie released his 25th studio album on his 69th birthday.
